Mental Health Ministry

During the church’s most recent visioning in 2022, we identified mental health ministry as a felt need both within the congregation and in our wider community. We are seeking to connect the dots between faith and mental health, respecting whole people - body, mind, and spirit. 

 

How are we doing this work today? Since 2024, Grace UCC has engaged with Stark County NAMI, our local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We also engage with the Heartland Conference UCC Mental Health Network and the national UCC Mental Health Network. We have recognized Mental Health Sunday during the month of May. We have supported local school districts to provide tangible resources that reduce barriers to mental health.

 

In a recent worship service, we took the hand of the person beside us, in a spirit of support and connection. Jesus does not judge anyone for having a mental illness. Instead, God seeks to meet us just exactly as we are, where we are. We intend to be like Jesus and become a healing presence.
