Creation Justice

“The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it, the world and those who live in it, for [God] has founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.” -Psalm 24:1-2, NRSVue

In 2023, the congregation of Grace United Church of Christ installed an array of solar panels on our south-facing roof. The solar panels are a ministry that represents our commitment to planet earth and to live in faith and hope. God’s earth is ours to steward and the effects of climate change are destructive. As stewards of creation we want to be a part of generating hope and living our discipleship with planet earth in mind, as stewards of creation.

The panels immediately produced a meaningful impact. At times, we now produce more energy than we consume! In a world that feels burdened by death and despair, these panels are a sign of resurrection life. We are quite literally giving energy to others.

Check out the Heartland Conference (UCC) Environmental Care and Justice Network for more theological and practical resources to care for the earth.
