WHO WE ARE
WHO WE ARE
Grace United Church of Christ
Thanks for stopping by!
We are so glad that you found Grace Church. We are proud members of the United Church of Christ where no matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome in this household of faith. We invite you to join us for worship Sunday mornings or to partner with us in our faith formation and mission opportunities.
OUR HISTORY
Over 175 years and counting
Founded in 1843, the congregation known today as Grace UCC has been known by many names and affiliations. In its earliest days, it was known as the New German Reformed Church and was affiliated with the Reformed Churches in America. In 1888, after several partnerships and mergers with other area churches that brought about various name changes, the congregation became Grace Reformed Church, meant to reflect the people’s strong belief in the many gifts that God freely gives to God’s people.
OUR VALUES
We are here for you
Each person is unique and valuable
It is the will of God that every person belong to a family of faith where they have a strong sense of being valued and loved.
We believe that God calls us to be servants in the service of others
We are not just called into the church to believe things, but also to do things.
Open and Affirming Covenant
Working Towads a just world for all
The congregation of Grace United Church of Christ in Uniontown, Ohio declares that we are an Open and Affirming Church. We take seriously what Jesus has taught: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27) We are committed to discovering the creative holiness in each person and to be inclusive in the exploration, celebration, and the daily living of our faith.
Everyone who is seeking a relationship with Jesus is welcome. “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” (John 13:34) To demonstrate our love and mindful of our mission to be a caring community, we acknowledge, accept, and affirm that all people are equal children of God. We welcome all to share in the life, leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, sacraments, responsibilities, and blessings of participation in our congregation.
We believe that all people are created in God’s image and thus are loved and blessed equally by God. “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28) Taking scripture as our guide, we invite and welcome into our faith community persons of every ability, age, race, nationality, economic and social status, faith background, marital standing, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and persons living with mental or physical illness or disability.
God does not discriminate with God’s love. “…we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” (1 John 4:16) The congregation of Grace United Church of Christ strives to live in love. We strive to be a safe and nurturing community of faith. We strive to be a place for all people to worship God, serve God, serve humanity, and grow in faith and fellowship. We strive to demonstrate in all ways that no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Come as you are
We worship God together on Sunday mornings at 10:15am. Our services vary from week to week but they normally include prayers, Old and New Testament scripture readings, a message, a dynamic mix of classic hymns, contemporary choruses, instrumental music, and regular use of multimedia. Children are welcome and encouraged to join us in worship.
We want you to come just as you are. When you walk through our doors you may see people in suits and ties, but you will also see people in jeans and t-shirts. We want to make sure when you visit you are comfortable and that is all that matters to us. When you come through our doors, we want to make sure you feel loved and welcomed.

Settled Minister:
Rev. Emily Howard
“I graduated in 2018 from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, where I belonged to First UCC in Marion, Ohio. In April 2021, just as the pandemic began to lighten, I was ordained at the church in Marion with a hybrid congregation on zoom and in person! In 2019, I began serving as Associate Pastor at Trinity UCC, in my hometown of Wooster. There, I focused on young adult programming and visitation ministries. In the wider church, I belong to the Heartland Conference Racial Equity Network and the Mental Health Network. I am a sister, an aunt, a daughter, a friend, and a cat lady. I recently relocated to Uniontown to serve with Grace UCC! An avid explorer, I will first be looking forward to getting my library card and exploring the lakes and restaurants in the area!”
